Oktoberfest- Chicago Style

In my previous blog I mentioned the Oktoberfest celebrations that will be taking place through out Chicago for the next few weeks. With the amount of beers and brats being consumed across our great city, you may think you are in the original Oktoberfest location...Munich, Germany. This year our Chi-toberfest is bigger and better than ever with a line-up of activites to keep your bellies full of wiener schnitzel and your feet dancing to the polka. Here are a few of my favorite events across all different parts of the city:

Oktoberfest CelebrationThe Annual Berghoff Oktoberfest -  With the restaurant's founder, Herman Joseph Berghoff, being an immigrant from Germany back in the late 1800s, it's no suprise that you can find the best of Germany in this beloved The Bergoff Chicago Resturant. For their 27th annual Oktoberfest celebration many are saying it willl be the biggest and the best yet. The event runs through this Sunday, September 30th and offers everything from steins of brew to burbon tasting and of course plenty of wursts!

River North Business Association Oktoberfeast- What better way to get a taste of all the great restaurants the River North area offers than an Oktoberfeast tasting tour! On Tuesday, October 2nd from 5pm-10pm you can walk around the beautiful River North area and enjoy food tastings from all of the neighborhood resturants and bars such as Maggianios, Theory, Wildfire, 25 Degrees, LaMadia, and Nick's Fishmarket...just to name a few. Tickets are only $50 and can be purchased at Maggiano's from 5pm-6pm that night.

Beers, Brats and Boats Oktoberfest Cruise- Nothings better than beer on a boat, so why not venture off shore for some sightseeing and celelbrating. The cruise ventures out onto Lake Michigan this Friday, September 28th from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are only $39 and include traditional brats, sauerkraut, potato salad and of course plenty of beer and music. Buy your tickets now!

From Berghoff's located in our lively downtown Loop to the towering high rises in the River North area, it's easy to see that every part of Chicago has something special to offer.
