It’s no secret that luxury rentals in Chicago are red hot right now, and perhaps the one neighborhood that this is most evident is the West Loop. Over the past several years, development in the West Loop neighborhood, on both the residential and commercial side of things, has been as active as anywhere in the city, making it one of the most desirable places to call home if you’re looking for a lively, vibrant, and unique urban setting.

In general, when most people think about West Loop real estate, and West Loop rentals in particular, trendy loft conversions might be the first thing that come to mind. But just like the West Loop’s thriving restaurant scene over on Randolph Street, West Loop rentals can also be quite diverse in their own right.

More luxury condos look to be coming to the Gold Coast, as reports are now coming out about a possible new high-rise project coming to 9 W. Walton. Being developed by JDL Development, this new 36-story, 67-unit tower has quietly been selling for the past several months, but now that the project seems to firmly be a go, official announcements are finally being made.

A report last week from Crain’s Chicago Business claims 22 units at the new 9 W. Walton building, being dubbed No. 9 Walton, have already been reserved, while JDL is still continuing to take inquiries.

To date, this is the largest condo project proposed in Chicago in the crash, as mostly all new development around town over the past 12 to 18 months has focused largely on luxury rentals. When

Today we continue our focus on Chicago lofts for sale and head over to one of downtown’s most prominent locations for loft conversions: The South Loop. In recent years, development around the South Loop neighborhood has been quite widespread, especially in the few years prior to the housing crash that slowed new construction all over the country.

Although attractive loft condos can be found all over the South Loop, one of the more desirable parts of the neighborhood, especially for loft lovers, is Printer’s Row—an interesting part of town that’s full of old buildings and warehouses that were originally used by printing and publishing businesses in the early 1900s. Today, nearly all of those buildings have been converted into residential loft, providing a
