When it comes to Chicago’s top selling neighborhoods for condos and townhomes the answer is perhaps just as diverse as the city itself. While overall home sales within the city were up about 6.3 percent for August 2015, the sales were widely spread out across a number of unique Chicago neighborhoods.
When comparing numbers from Redfin, total home sales were at the highest levels in the Near North Side. The next top contender was Lincoln Park. The Loop and West Loop came in at the other end of the rankings.
While the Near North Side saw the most sales activity, though, home sales were actually down between July and August by about 24.2 percent. This trend stayed consistent across some of the most active neighborhoods in Chicago. Homes sales fell 31.2 percent in Lakeview, 30.5 percent for the West Loop and in the Near South Side it was 28 percent.
Looking closer at the numbers, the Near North Side stayed well in front of the rest in terms of condominium and townhome sales too. Sales more or less evened out starting with Lincoln Park, West Town and South Loop. West Loop saw the lowest levels in terms of condominium and townhome sales.
