Good news for South Loop residents, as it appears the much-anticipated Fred Anderson Park is scheduled to finally open sometime in mid-December. We first read about the news yesterday from DNAinfo.com, and if you're familiar with the Chicago Park District's latest project, chances are you've been waiting on its completion for quite some time. As mentioned in their article, this soon-to-be South Loop landmark has been in the works for roughly six long years, and after all kinds of hurdles and delays, it looks like we're in the final stretch of construction and clean-up, which should only take a few more weeks. Â
Designed by the Altamanu architectural firm and constructed by Robe Construction Inc, Fred Anderson Park will offer sprawling concrete walkways, plenty of lighting, ample seating and park benches, picnic tables, ornamental fences, and if you're a dog owner here in the South Loop, you'll be interested to know there will also be a dog friendly area, compete with artificial turf and a big doggie drinking fountain. Â
Fred Anderson Park is located at 1629 S. Wabash Street in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, and if you're interested to know what's for sale near the park area, have a look at the featured MLS listings below.
