With just one week left of February, we thought now might be a great time to take a look at all upcoming events and festivities taking place in March of 2015. Although the weather next month will likely still be cold, dreary, and maybe even snowy, it’s still a great time of the year to be in Chicago because of all the different fun-filled St. Patrick’s Day and springtime events that happen in neighborhoods all over town.
So if you plan on being in town not only for St. Patrick’s Day but for the entire duration of the month, here’s a look at just some of the things to keep you occupied while we anxiously await that warm, springtime weather.
Chicago Polar Plunge - Sunday March 1st, North Avenue Beach
Not only is this annual Chicago tradition tons of fun (seriously), it also goes to a great cause—The Special Olympics Chicago. And if you’re brave enough to jump into the icy cold water of Lake Michigan this year, you might also be able to get a glimpse of local Chicago celebrity, Vince Vaughn, the 2015 celebrity plunger.View event details
Chicago Flower & Garden Show - Saturday March 14th, Navy Pier
Nothing quite says spring like flowers and gardening, so for our money, there’s no better way to welcome in the new season than to take in all the awesome flower displays, gardening demos, and even some instructional seminars at this year’s Chicago Flower & Garden Show.
South Side Irish Parade - Sunday March 15th, Western Avenue from 103rd to 115th Street
There’s no better St. Patty’s day celebration than the South Side Irish Parade, which always includes some amazingly designed floats, marching bands, and of course plenty of bagpipes. If you’ve never experienced this unique Irish tradition, it’s one you can’t miss this year.View event details

Downtown Chicago St. Patrick’s Parade - Saturday March 14th, Michigan & Wacker
Like the South Side Irish Parade, the annual dyeing of the Chicago River is also quite the spectacle, and regardless of the weather, this ultra-hyped March event starts at 9 a.m. sharp, so wake up early and head downtown for a full day of St. Patty’s day fun!View event details
