Although you might not be able to tell after the warm weather we saw today, the fall season in Chicago is here and it’s time to trade in the beach for some fun indoor entertainment in and around downtown. Taking in a Bears game or making an appearance at some of the last outdoor festivals of the season is always a good idea, but one thing you may want to consider when you have some free time is to visit one of Chicago’s many renowned museums. Plenty of new exhibits are on display all around Chicago, so here’s our list of all the 2013 must-see museum exhibits this Fall in Chicago:

1)      Opening the Vaults: Wonders of the 1893 World’s Fair

Launching this fall at the Field Museum, this one is definitely a ‘can’t-miss’ for all you history buffs. Check out some of the things that were on display and wowed Chicago fair goers over 100 years ago. While the Ferris Wheel debut may have stolen the headlines, plenty of odd new products, exotic animals, and exhibits from cultures all across the globe were also on display and will be documented here at Opening the Vaults: Wonders of the 1893 World’s Fair.

2)      Treasures of the Walt Disney Archive - Museum of Science and Industry

Opening October 16th—the 90th anniversary of Disney exactly—Treasures of the Walt Disney Archive will go back 90 years to display close to 300 different artifacts, many of which have never been seen before by the general public. From authentic drawings and props to original costumes and artwork, this amazing exhibit will cover it all. This one is fun for all you Disney fans or for kids who just can’t get enough of all their favorite characters. Check this one out at the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago.

3)     Jellies - Shedd Aquarium

Although the Shedd Aquarium’s Jellies has been on exhibit for a little while, its days are numbered and will only be on display through the rest of this year. Roaming the ocean’s waters for over 500 million years and lacking everything from bones to brains, Jellies are one of the ocean’s most complex and interesting marine animals in existence. Learn all there is to know about Jellies at the Shedd Aquarium before it’s too late!
