Chicago Condos

In case you missed it, back in September, St Louis-based moving company United Van Lines released its annual list of metropolitan areas clients seem to be moving to and from during the fairly-typical warm weather moving season, and this year, the list happened to catch our eye.

In recent years, more people seemed to be moving out of the Windy City rather than making it a destination for their new home; but now, it seems that trend is slowly but surely starting to reverse. According to United Van Lines, Chicago was actually the most popular place to move to during its four month study over May through August, followed by Washington, Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas, Phoenix, and New York.

Additionally, Chicago also dropped down to sixth on…

The warm weather, the beaches, the outdoor patios and cafes, and all the different street festivals certainly go a long way in making things fun and exciting all summer long here in Chicago. But for our money, the holiday season is also just as special for a number of different reasons, even despite the dreary cold weather that inevitable during this time of year.

So many different events, parties, festivals, and events are part of the holiday season in Chicago, and if we had to narrow down our list of the top things to do this year, here’s what we recommend:

Standing 5 stories high and expected to house 295 more high-end apartments for rent, 805 N. LaSalle, also dubbed Eight O Five, is yet another downtown rental high-rise that's expected to make its debut sometime in 2015, and most likely sooner rather than later. Conveniently situated at LaSalle and Chicago Avenue in Streeterville, location doesn't get much better for those who already work somewhere around the downtown area or frequently use the CTA Red Line, as the Chicago Avenue station will be situated just a short walk from the lobby doors once construction for Eight O Five is completed.

Unlike some recently developed rental buildings in downtown Chicago though, 805 N. LaSalle is being marketed as "affordable luxury," offering an extensive inventory…

Good news for South Loop residents, as it appears the much-anticipated Fred Anderson Park is scheduled to finally open sometime in mid-December. We first read about the news yesterday from DNAinfo.com, and if you're familiar with the Chicago Park District's latest project, chances are you've been waiting on its completion for quite some time. As mentioned in their article, this soon-to-be South Loop landmark has been in the works for roughly six long years, and after all kinds of hurdles and delays, it looks like we're in the final stretch of construction and clean-up, which should only take a few more weeks. Designed by the Altamanu architectural firm and constructed by Robe Construction Inc, Fred Anderson Park will offer sprawling concrete walkways, plenty of lighting, ample seating and park benches, picnic tables, ornamental fences, and if you're a dog owner here in the South Loop, you'll be interested to know there will also be a dog friendly area, compete with artificial turf and a big doggie drinking fountain. Fred Anderson Park is located at 1629 S. Wabash Street in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, and if you're interested to know what's for sale near the park area, have a look at the featured MLS listings below.

With Thanksgiving fast-approaching, it's time to start seriously thinking about the upcoming holiday season, which means kicking off the many fun-filled traditions that make late-November and much of December such a special time of the year here in the Windy City. Downtown Chicago has all kinds of special holiday customs, but few quite as unique as the CTA Holiday Train, now in it's 23rdseason. Just yesterday, the CTA released the preliminary schedule for the 2014 Holiday Train, which will run from November 28th all the way to December 23rd.

River West Condos For Sale

River West isn't one of those downtown neighborhoods that garners a lot of attention from today's home buyers. Nearby River North features some of Chicago's hottest nightlife, while just down the street, the West Loop is now home to the city's most recognized dining and restaurant scene—leaving River West to be little more than an afterthought when it comes to being a destination to live, work, or play around the downtown area.

But over the past several years however, development around River West has quietly picked up, and if the proposed 16-story, 240-unit apartment building at Grand and Milwaukee finally does become a reality, it's only a matter of time before this small part of Chicago that's wedged in between the Chicago River and I-90 to…

Hailo Leaves Chicago

There's a number of different mobile apps and companies out there today that make catching a cab or hitching a ride much easier than it was only a few years ago. But last week, one such company has raised the white flag and will not only be leaving Chicago, but all of North America.

Hailo, the London-based e-hailing taxi service, has officially called it quits here in the Windy City, citing competition and increased price pressure from rival companies like Uber and Lyft. Unlike Uber and Lyft however, which works more with private drivers, Hailo sought to differentiate its service by working closer to cab drivers, helping them find a better and more efficient way to generate business.

As the ride-hailing app game migrated more towards private…

Cubs Plaza

The demise of Wrigley Field’s famed bleachers has certainly gotten a lot of attention over the past week or so, but that’s certainly not the only change we’re about to see around Chicago’s lively Wrigleyville neighborhood. Along with the major re-development and modernization to the ballpark, as well as the highly publicized addition of Cubs Plaza, more development news for around this part of the northside was recently announced, which aims to further re-shape the entire Wrigleyville area.

First, after years of uncertainty following the recession, recent reports have surfaced that the massive 8-story SCD-designed development dubbed "Addison Park on Clark" is finally moving forward, which will include 148 apartments, 170,000 square feet of retail…

If you're looking for a location in downtown Chicago that might make for a good long-term investment, you might want to consider the South Loop neighborhood for your next home or condo, as it looks as if the next wave of development is right around the corner for this ever-evolving part of the city.

While it may feel like yesterday to some, the city of Chicago first announced plans to build a brand new, state-of-the art basketball arena for DePaul University all the way back in May of 2013, with hopes of construction starting sometime in 2014. And although the deadline for groundbreaking in 2014 might have been missed, it seems the project will finally move forward in January of 2015, according to several reports that surfaced on Friday.

With an…

Downtown Chicago is filled with some pretty spectacular high-rises, and it's hard to deny our skyline is among the most recognizable in the entire world. But among many of the buildings we as real estate agents frequently visit like Trump Tower, the Waldorf Astoria, or the Ritz Carlton Residences are a wide range of amazing commercial developments that house some pretty cool office spaces that are designed to help build brand identity and create a workplace that inspires, drives, and motivates employees.

Back in August of this year, Crain's Chicago Business asked businesses around the Chicagoland area to submit photos and describe what makes their workplace so special, and after receiving a number of responses, some of what they…
